FC Barcelona to Host First Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday

Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league two and a half years after they moved out for construction to commence.

“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players plus modern locker rooms.

Stadium Testing

Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued from Uefa to host the next European match facing Eintracht on 9 December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches at the Olympic Stadium.
