The Prince of Wales Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in Brazil
The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America next month, as confirmed by palace sources.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a gathering preceding the environmental conference, which is scheduled to take place in the Amazonian city of Belem.
The King and Prince were in attendance at the scientific institution event, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting co-hosted by the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Dedication
King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of protecting nature - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil preceding the COP summit.
Official representatives have described William's involvement at the forthcoming conference as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".
Recent Engagements
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the state Bentley, were welcomed guests including conservation experts, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.
This engagement featured addresses in concert with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco in recent months.
Earthshot Awards Link
The climate conference will align with the William's personal sustainability recognition program, which will finish in the Brazilian city the previous day he participates in the COP summit on November 6th.
Recently the prince characterized the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".
Royal Climate Legacy
The monarch has been a key figure at previous climate summits, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the observation: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"For decades I've committed a substantial portion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks challenging our world over climate change, climate change and biodiversity loss," the monarch informed attendees.
