Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on Monday, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health follows the global fight fans had expressed its support for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
